Facebook and the Oscars

We finally have a presence on Facebook!  I wondered why we should bother, we have a nice blog!  However, after noticing many other businesses adding more and more "Fans" or "Likes" to their Facebook page, I began to think we would be missing out on something that's still considered free advertisement.

If you want to see quick updates from the shop and be one of the first to know about sales, then click on the facebook icon and then click on the "Like" button.  We can promise that we won't be posting enough to annoy you, but you can always  "Hide" friends that do that!  It's necessary to have more people like your business page in order to use other applications within our Facebook account.

Oh, and why does this new Facebook account remind me of the Oscars?  Do you remember Sally Field's acceptance speech from the 1985 Academy Awards?  It's the " you like me, you really like me . ." speech that I think about every time I check on the Facebook page!  I watched the entire speech on You Tube, and it's actually even more corny than I remembered!  I suspect this weekend's show will have some memorable speeches, too.

Madison Lane Introduces our newest jewelry line from Anne Vaughan Designs

Founded in 2006, Anne Vaughan Designs was created so Anne could find a way to work while doing her first job - being a mom.
Over three years, four employees. eleven (and counting) retail shops and tens of thousands of pieces of distinct jewelry later, Anne designs each individual item.
She showcases her work at retail events, stores and festivals, private home shows, and creates custom and bridal jewelry as well.

We met Anne at the Orlando Market (ACRE)  last month.  You may have read through the post here.  The colors she mixes into her jewelry designs really caught our eye.  After visiting with her on the first day, we told her we would be back later to place an order.  Anne told us to go by and visit her husband, who was helping her out in another section of the show (the cash and carry).  She had many of her one-of-a-kind  pieces over there, and we could take them with us that day.  That's just exactly what we did, but we still went back to Anne's booth and bought more.  Here's our picture of Anne at the ACRE show in Orlando:

We purchased the confetti style necklaces and bracelets, along with a couple of unique styles that are no longer being made by Anne.  She told us sometimes a design turns out to be more work than she anticipated, and they don't make it to the regular line, but she does custom work, so you can still make a request for a special design.

Something we haven't carried in the shop is silver jewelry---it's usually a matter of price.  We loved these casual beaded/pendant style necklaces, and bought the two styles with the silver pendants.  They would be great with your jeans and open collar shirt, or even a knit top.  The beading is smaller and with a lot of variety.  The silver (or copper) pendants are just large enough to get noticed, but not overtly so.

Stop in and see Anne's jewelry designs.  We are proud to support more women doing business here in the U.S.A. and always excited to have the the most unique jewelry in the area!

Virtual Decorating---seeing is believing!

If you follow Madison Lane's blog, you know we do computerized drawings for our window treatment customers, as well as our custom bedding customers.  Pam has been doing 3-D room arranging for some time.  It includes a virtual walk-through of the newly designed living space.  At this time, we are sharpening our skills for more virtual decorating---and we hope to add long distance customers to this section of the business.  We are able to add the fabrics and furniture, as seen in the picture above, so the customer can see their choices all together in their finished room.

Through this service we will add our custom window treatments and bedding for our long distance customers.  The blog has opened up an endless world of customers, and we intend to provide virtual decorating as well as the real thing to those of you not in our immediate area.

We'll soon have a real website up and running for online purchases, but for now, please feel free to call or email Madison Lane Interiors for more information.  Seeing really is believing!

Gather those twigs and branches for some Winter Decor

Many of us in Missouri have been snowbound this past week. Today is a particularly grey day, but even with the sun shining, our view seems to be that of dead tree branches.  Well, you know the saying, "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade".  I had that in mind as I visited these pictures on the Houzz website.  If you haven't browsed this awesome collection of photos, you're missing out.  You can do a search for something specific or choose a style or space from the column on the left.
