Kitchen remodeling: Before, during, and during . . . .

OK, be honest, what would you do to this kitchen???? Here's a before picture of all the oak cabinets, green laminate counter tops, laminate floors, and the lovely soffit above the cabinets.

Please forgive my camera, it was acting up on this day! You are getting an idea of the new plan. New cherry cabinets mounted to the ceiling. The soffit was torn out, walls were painted a pale blue, and counters and backsplash are almost ready!

The counter tops arrived: uba tuba granite and a travertine backsplash that was kicked up a notch with glass tiles. We decided to avoid interference with the outlets by placing a band of glass just above everything in a solid line. I know, the beach towels really add a nice touch. I still vote for the "appliance garage" if you need to keep things within reach but don't want them cluttering the counter. We want to show off the backsplash.

The tile guy sure finishes out the edges nicely, don't you think? We can't wait to see the finished kitchen, either, but there's still painting to be done and dust to settle before a good photo can be taken. We've got tables and chairs to purchase, a window seat to cover and a window to dress. There's a lot going on in here that you haven't even seen. The built-in TV cabinet and hutch, and the desk and open shelving is just around the corner. Stay tuned for the progress and updates.

Remember to contact us before the demolition begins. A few hours of consulting time to help you with your next remodel might be worth much more in the long run.

Storyboards: featuring furniture arrangements and window coverings

We were recently asked if we would like to set up a display for a spec home being built in a new development just southwest of town. One of the agents for the properties, Gay Lynne, is buying a cottage for herself. With this in mind, we did a room plan featuring colors and patterns that we thought she would like. The Kilm Beige walls are a nice backdrop for the robin's egg blue fabric accents and brown leather sofa. We suggested woven wood shades for privacy and an embroidered faux silk fabric for the drapes. The table lamp has a glass base which is a nice contrast next to the shades. The sofa would be situated across from the chairs with a large ottoman in front that could be used as additional seating or as a table by using a tray on top.

If you have a new home or need to update your current one, we can provide the same services. Not everyone needs a total redo--maybe just a room re-arrangement or a new curtain is on your "to do" list. Pricing for floor plans is by the square foot. Window treatment renderings are priced for each page drawn.

Drop by and let us help you visualize your dreams before they come true!!

Unique Jewelry Finds

Our best jewelry finds are from the artists here in the USA! Oh yeah, you can find some deals from other countries, but we really think it's important to support our artists and craftsmen. One of our new "friends", Becky, makes soldered jewelry, glass pendants, and even pendants from small Scrabble Tiles. Save those diamonds and jewels for special events and dress up your "everyday" outfits with these fun, inexpensive pieces of jewelry.

The rectangular shaped soldered pendants are two-sided. We have ball chains and a large assortment of ribbon cords for your pendants, or you may use them with a cord or chain you already have.

This daisy would make a great gift for that gal pal who is still waiting for that Mr. Perfect!

This one is for the friend who has apparently found "Mr. Perfect". What a great shower gift. And for some of you out there: did your first Barbie look like her, too???

Here's an example of the glass tiles. They are even prettier in person because you can see the depth of the glass and the shine that is not visible in the picture.

This one is actually done on a Scrabble Tile. What a pretty burst of color from something so small!

We continually have good luck selling items with dragonflies. There is something a little magical about them---maybe it's their coloring or the fact that they fly so fast no one ever quite gets a good look at them.

Oh, this is for you Kansans out there and anyone who is a fan of The Wizard of Oz. You know the saying that goes with this one . . . . .

"there's no place like Madison Lane, there's no" . . .oh no, I mean "There's no place like home, there's no place like home!!!"

We're not just home decor---come by and see for yourself.

Do your floors need a dash of color???

Does the title of the post sound familiar? Does the banner (at least for this first week of September) look like something you've seen before? Well, if you drive past 2nd and Main, you have surely noticed our billboard. We just wanted you to know the sample display for Dash and Albert has arrived! Yes, it is large, and yes, we are still rearranging. But---you'll be able to see, touch and even "check-out" large sample sizes of every rug made by Dash and Albert. If you are not familiar with their line of rugs, please look over their website. We even have a couple of their great bags! But hurry in, or you may have to view those on our shoulder. We'll try to keep them around for you to see in person----but it's gonna be hard.

We hope your floors do need a dash of color. Madison Lane is your only area Dash and Albert dealer.
