Justice Furniture preview for 2012

We attended the Justice Furniture Fall Market a couple of weeks ago.  It wasn't really their full blown market, but more of a preview of their new sofas and fabrics.  The company is located in Lebanon, Missouri, and just less than a two hour drive.

We liked this one so much we ordered the same thing for the store.  It's already here, but we opted for some turquoise pillows for a pop of color.  This new fabric is more of a "champagne" color, which could be described as a color somewhere between gold and silver, but neither one.  It's a neutral that really has more of a taupe look to it, and definitely not another brown!

This soft leather feels like butter to the touch, and looks like it in color.  Another plus to this new sofa is the special material in the cushions.  Much more spring in the firm cushions, but still cushy to sit on.  The wood across the bottom really adds a tailored look to this sofa.

Nailheads look great on this style.  Shown here in a bonded leather.
This traditional camel back sofa looks less traditional without the skirt!  The taller arms also give a new look to this style.

Notice the curved front on this sofa.  It has a definite feminine quality!

The pillows show one of the new fabrics from Justice.  The sofa has a definite streamlined look to it.  Perfect for a family room that just can't handle those oversized sofas.

While Justice is updating their website, be sure to stop in and see our pictures of the newest sofa styles, along with the new fabrics.  You won't believe how perfect the new sectional fits in the shop.  With all the options available, we can make sure it fits just as perfectly in your home!

A fun mix of gifts, spring decor, and a pretty chair---all under one roof!

It seems that the nice weather keeps people in their yards, rather than in our shop, but thanks to those of you who we got to see this week! It's great to see new faces, and we did enjoy visiting with old friends, too!

OK, what's fun at MLI? Have you seen our flour sack towels? Forget the funny card for your friend and give a laugh that won't go into the trash.

We've got a whole basket full to keep you laughing. They come in pairs and each set has a gingham ribbon to keep them together. They are actually the soft flour sack cloth you will want to put to use, and get a kick out them everytime.

Try adding some calla lilies to your spring decor. We have two sizes available.

Notice the smaller calla lilies in the white pitcher. Adding something white to your counter-top would look fresh for spring, whether it's a canister set or one of the matching serving platters.

A pretty Chair.

Justice Furniture has had this chair in their line for awhile, but not this fabric. We loved it and finally decided to order one for the shop. Try it out, you'll be surprised how comfortable a "pretty" chair can be. And guys, with a different fabric, this chair can also look very "handsome".

Curtain and Drapery Hardware: the what, where and why

Who knew there would be so much involved in choosing hardware for window treatments. Well, we did, that's why we're here!

If you've been in the store you've probably noticed the drapery panel hanging by the counter. It changes with the seasons and the store inventory. If you haven't looked closely, you're missing this swing arm iron hardware from Helser Brothers. We've mentioned them several times, and their great service is just one of the reasons. A swing arm rod would work well in a doorway as a room divider!

Another great rod they make is this twist style. We've used it for a cafe curtain and as an inside mounted rod. Notice the socket brackets that we used for this deep set window. Not everyone has windows with this much depth, so we can use a brackets that is even smaller, but still allows the rod to be mounted inside the frame. Many homes still require an outside mount for cafe curtains, and we just request that the brackets be made with a shallow return (keeps the rod closer to the window).
. You can barely see the white rod and finial for this breakfast room, but that was the point. We only wanted to blend in with the white trim and leave the fabrics on these valances as the highlight of the room. They actually had a lot of detail not visible in the pictures: pleated blue ribbon trim on the bottom, yellow cording across the top, and yellow covered buttons at each pleat.

And yet another sample rod in the store, also made by Helser Brothers. This is from their new line, Artefice. Notice the square rings and rod. We had this made especially for the shop so we could mount it like the swing-arm rod: pointing away from the wall. Typically, this rod is mounted between two brackets, like most others. This is an example of the custom work we are able to request from our hardware vendors.

This close-up shows the glass knobs used to hang these over 100" panels. Actually, they are hanging from the posts that were "tooled" to support these drapery panels. It was necessary that they had a 5.5" return (space from the wall to the front of the panels). These were to go on each side of a large window that was already dressed with outside mounted Silhouettes. They were hung outside the trim due to the framing of the windows. A Silhouette has a 3.5" projection itself, so the panels had to hang free of the shades. A very sturdy post was made and powder-coated to match the bronze colors on the hardware already in the bedroom. Very heavy duty wall anchors had to be used because we mounted these above the header! Not visible to you are the soffits on either side of the window! Do you think we had enough hoops to jump through on this job!?

Hooray for the installs that don't require custom work ahead of time, but we're ready when we get to the home. This otherwise simple window treatment did require that the brackets were placed so that enough rod space was available on each end to support the tabbed jabots that was part of this valance. The stained wood rod/finials/brackets was chosen to coordinate with the desk she purchased from us for use in this home office. The client had also purchased a chair from the Justice furniture line, and we were able to order extra yardage for the window treatment.

Let Madison Lane Interiors tell you the "what, where and why" on your next window challenge.

Justice Furniture Market, Part III

You might have been wondering if Justice Furniture had chairs at market this year. We were just saving them for last! Here's some of the highlights:

The new gold, diamond patterned fabric on these rolled back chairs really made an impression on us. We will probably get this chair for the store, eventually. They have a plush look to them, but the upholstery is very tailored without a loose cushion. The nailhead trim comes as a standard on this one, but can be ordered without.

The parsons chair looked great with the new black and white fabric. Everyone could use one or two of these in their home!

We did buy this one for the shop, and our customer bought two for her new home! This is now known as the Jeanne Chair! We see it as an alternative to the more traditional wingback chair. They are taller than many of the other chairs, too, which makes it nice to rest your head if you should nod off. They are comfortable enough to do just that.

We call this one a barrel back chair because it has a slight curve to the back. The fabric is a new one this year, but the actual chair is not. This particular fabric gives a more transitional look to this chair.

This classy chair is a little more angular in design. It would look very nice as a pair in a sitting room or alone as a bedroom chair. The fabric shown is somewhat dressy and looked very sophisticated.

This little chair is small in size and perfect for a small sitting room or an entry. The new blue and white fabric looked like it was made just for this chair!

This is the Carol Chair. We do have this style in the shop and covered in a cheetah print. It is just as comfortable as it looks and is even more comfortable when the little "half moon" ottoman is in front of it.

And speaking of ottomans, this little rectangle ottoman is a perfect fit in front of this chair. This is basically the same chair as the Jeanne chair, but has a low back, which works well for smaller rooms!

The newest fabric swatches are due to arrive in a few more weeks. But if you see something you like, we can get a cutting before then. Please stop in and give our floor models a try, and see what you think.

Justice Furniture Market, Part II

We didn't get finished showing you the current sofa selection offered by Justice Furniture. The smaller sized sofa pictured below takes on a fun look with the new floral fabric. We think it would have a more tailored look if it was upholstered in a woven fabric. Note the buttons on the back. Also take notice of the little cubes which can be spread out for additional seating, or used as one large ottoman as shown.

Another new floral fabric has a great cottage look and is perfect with this style of sofa. The rounded arms and three cushions give this sofa a real comfy look with the cotton fabric. The striped pillows are a perfect accent to the cottage style. The picture would really be complete with a shabby style coffee table with a pile of great decorating books on top!

The blue and white fabrics were a fresh look on this two cushion sofa. Note the rounded edges on the cushions and arms.

Here's a good example of a bold fabric on a large piece of furniture. The medallion style fabric was centered in each cushion, as it should be. This fabric would also be a great choice for a chair with a tall back.

The ecru fabric was an addition we had been waiting for! A neutral, woven fabric that looks good with almost everything. It's a great backdrop for some interesting pillows. The texture keeps it from being boring, and adds a tailored look to whatever piece of furniture it's on.

The last sofa is now called the "Jeanne" sofa. We like naming the furniture after our customers! It's just easier for us to remember. This particular sofa is great for floating in a room because of the pretty rolled back (we don't have a picture of that, unfortunately). The drawing at the end gives a hint of the shape.

Justice Furniture has updated their website to include line drawings of their furniture, along with the dimensions. After checking their website, remember to come by the shop and we'll show you all their fabrics or call for an appointment and we'll bring them by your home!

Justice Furniture Market, Part I

Lucky for us this year Justice Furniture held their yearly market at the Chateau on the Lake, in Branson, Missouri. The hotel was beautiful and really had a nice showroom for their furniture. There were several new pieces and great new fabrics. We were even more lucky to be joined by a client who was able to try out all the furniture before choosing her favorites. Believe it or not, we knew which ones she'd like!

Here's a new sofa with a lower back and sloped arms. It's a smaller profile sofa meant for a smaller room. Below is the same sofa but stretched out into what we call a conversation sofa.

This small version of the conversation sofa was new. The square ottoman looked so fresh in the new contemporary fabric. It really was comfy.

Here's the regular sized conversation sofa with a skirt and a more formal fabric.

Now it doesn't have a skirt it is paired with a shaped ottoman.

Sectionals are a popular choice for family rooms. This one is skirted.

Here's a more casual version of the sectional without the skirt. The large square ottoman can be extra seating or a coffee table if you place a tray on top.

We've got more to show you in the coming days!
